The DTM started a new season with a spectacular opening race on May 6th 2017. The first-class teams from Audi, BMW and Mercedes, as well as new regulations with regard to the race procedure and points system, promise nine racing weekends full of excitement and thrills. Anyone who does not make it to the race live can still access thanks to DTM-Live-Experience -from anywhere.

As in previous years, rrbone ensures that the live timing, developed by our friends at 5Minds, delivers the current race data reliably and precisely.

As soon as the starting gun is fired, not only are the spectators sitting in front of the screens, but also our employees. While the drivers fight for victory, we keep an eye on the data streams. So that there is no network overload, we rely on a tailor-made Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) based on SmartOS from Joyent and agile load-balancing via HAProxy. These HAProxy servers distribute inquiries and data traffic to Ubuntu LX containers in which NodeJS applications run. A Redis instance ensures efficient caching. In this way, high performance is guaranteed. Should there be any abnormalities, our employees intervene immediately and fix the problem before it can affect the live timing.

Together with the live-timing-application from 5Minds, the result is a reliable and powerful telemetry overview, which always keeps the audience up to date and thus brings a little DTM feeling right home – or anywhere needed.

In addition, the new DTM app for Android and iOS has been available in the corresponding stores since this year. The database for these apps is the same as for the web version, which had to withstand extensive tests before the start of the season. Thanks to the perfect collaboration between 5Minds, rrbone and the infrastructure, around 30,000 simultaneous client connections during a race could be processed quickly and reliably in these tests. We wish all spectators and teams an exciting and eventful DTM season in 2017!
